Wroclaw 2015

This was my second visit to Wroclaw already. Last time I was there, it was with Michael, Máca and Tereza N. We went there for a Conference about Solidarita, Lech Walesa and Polish history from around 1980. That included a city game, that gave us an idea of creating

our own conference and town games (I can't call Liberec "a city", com'on!). And I believe we were succesfull too.

Anyway, back to Wroclaw. This time it was and an idea of my new schoolmate - Zuzka. She didn't have anybody who to go with, so I offered to show her Wroclaw (eventhough I didn't remember much, because last time I was there, I was only runing and trying to win the city game - which I by the way almost win- but that's story for another time...).

So I opened map of Wroclaw and some prospects I had from last time and was trying to make a plan where to go...

It wasn't that difficult because Wroclaw is really cool and beauty city. It's very big but if you stay just in the centre, it reminds of Old town in Prague. There is no big need to leave old centre because you're not gonna see anything breathtaking out of historic centre (from my point of view - if you like typical communist architecture then you're be in architect's heaven ;-)

We travelled from Prague directly to Wroclaw via PolskiBus (I should get some discount for how often I travel with them...).

It took just about 6 hours, I took some sleep and did few homeworks. We arrived just in time for dinner (Thursday 10th of December). We went to our appartment which Zuzka found and paid via AirBnb, which was completely new portal for me. I knew couchsurffing, hostelsworld.com and so on, but never heard about AirBnb before.

If there is anyone else in the galaxy who didn't herad about them, I can only recommened. In advance you check their portal, choose an apartment in your target city, check the pictures and prices and then contact the owner. Most usually it's someone's private

appartment and he leaves for your use one room. In addition you can use his bathroom, shower, kitchen and everything else you agree on. It's much cheaper than Hotels and I believe even than Hostels. On the other hand it's difficult to get your money back when you run in someone who wanna cheat.

But we were completely ok, our appartment Owner was named Maciek, I believe (I was never good with names...). He was funny and cool guy, he worked as a soccer journalist and his favourite sclub was F.C. Barcelona. He even visited few of their matches on camp Nou Stadium.

He gave us quick info about Wroclaw, where to go + where to not go. He even showed us good restaurant for dinner, where we went this night. And that's great about AirBnb, you can get directly to contact with locals. It's even better than Hostels and couchsurfing because when we used couchsurffing I always had a felling I have to somehow repay my visit, if you know what I mean.

      Here is ewerything clear.

Anyway, we went for a dinner. We chose a Armenian restaurant, as Maciek suggested. We had really cool armenian meal which name I - of course - don't remember. We even recieved an armenian newspapers. I couldn't read anything in their language but I was feeling importnat everytime pretending that I'm reading them.

Then we headed back to an appartment because we were auite tired from the whole week. In th emorning I realised that we are somewhere in the middle of the way between historic centre and the only skyscraper in Wroclaw. I could see it even from our kitchen window (as you can see on picture above).

It looked interesting to me but everyone I asked didn't recommened it to me. And when I checked their websites, I found out that you need even tickets in advance... so thanks but maybe next time.

We decided to stay in the historic centre for the whole time which I can only recommend to you. It's really worth it. Especially he game called "Gotta catch 'em all".

There are over 300 small dwars all over Wroclaw. In the historice centre is more than 100 of them and sometimes they are really hard to find.

The dwars are still being made so there are more and more of them every year. They even sell a map of them, but as we found it's incorrect and not refreshed.
